Newstead II

All this contemporary inner-city apartment needed was the extra layering and styling to create the New York cosmopolitan brief.

We added warmth through organic-textured materials, as well as a stunning tactile seagrass wallpaper that now adorns the master bedroom as a feature wall.

Our Newstead client had a contemporary inner-city apartment and a New York brief: cosmopolitan, sophisticated, and full of character. The bones and most of the furniture were already there, so what it needed was layering. We chose the interior finishes, including a feature wallpaper, then sourced the finishing pieces, artwork, lighting, and accessories and styled the whole apartment. Perfect Line Painting looked after the painting. A city apartment can feel a little cold, so we leaned on organic, textured materials throughout.

Dining

A round marble dining table and pale chairs sit at the window, looking straight out over the city skyline. With a view like that, we kept the table simple: a textured black vase and a candle, and nothing more. Opt for a round table by a big window - nobody gets stuck with their back to the whole view.

Living Spaces

A black sideboard with fluted glass doors is topped with a marble bowl and a few books. We love fluted glass on a sideboard: it hides the everyday clutter and still lets the light through. On the marble coffee table, an open design book and a wide candle are all the styling it needs. Black, marble, and glass give the apartment its New York edge.

Main Bedroom

The main bedroom is where the warmth really comes through. A tactile seagrass wallpaper runs across the feature wall, and the boucle bedhead is lit by a lamp on a marble-topped oak bedside table. Seagrass and boucle are both soft textures, and together they make the room feel cosy (we'd happily never leave!).
